Operating primarily in the Taylor-Massey neighborhood, BCS is a registered charity with a simple mission: Helping people help themselves. For over 20 years, BCS has helped newcomers in areas such as Technology development, Senior wellness, and after-school tutoring programs.
Every year, for almost two decades, this tournament has committed to serving individuals who face financial and social barriers to participating in sports. We invest in our community by providing a 2-day tournament for various age groups and award prizes for the top teams. We have seen a yearly average of 200+ participants and 25 volunteers supporting the initiative.
We are excited to introduce our tournament for the 2023 year!

COMMUNITIES REACHED
INVESTING IN THE COMMUNITY
Our organization is determined to provide a fun and interactive experience for those in underserved communities.
PARTICIPATION OF IMMIGRANTS
Children of immigrant families face many addressable barriers to participating in sports: access, awareness, experience, and parents not viewing sports as a priority. More than 60% of the Taylor-Massey area is home to immigrants, newcomers, and refugees.
PRIORITY AREA
The Taylor-Massey area has been identified as a neighbourhood Improvement Area by the City of Toronto. The tournament will be held at Dentonia park, near TTC and GO Transit stations, prioritizing ease of access in order to encourage community involvement.
SOCIOECONOMIC BARRIERS
Approximately 33% of children do not participate in sports due to financial costs. Therefore we are determined to provide a free tournament with game equipment and prizes provided.
GIRLS' PARTICIPATION
Girls often abandon sports early on due to factors such as access, safety, cost, and social stigma. Our goal is to improve their overall experience and perspective of sports by providing a safe environment that encourages participation and more accessibility.
