Building an Inclusive, Peaceful, and Resilient Community
 

BCS is committed to building a strong, inclusive, and resilient community where diversity is celebrated, racism is challenged, and everyone has the opportunity to participate and thrive. Through community engagement, youth leadership, education, and advocacy, BCS works to promote anti-racism, combat hate and discrimination, and foster peace and social harmony.
 

BCS organizes community events, cultural celebrations, and awareness initiatives that bring people together across cultures and generations. Programs such as Canada Day celebrations, Orange Shirt Day, International Mother Language Day, and multicultural events create opportunities to celebrate heritage, strengthen relationships, and promote belonging. BCS also engages community members through environmental awareness activities, skill-building workshops, and leadership development opportunities that support individuals to become active advocates for positive change.

A key focus of BCS’s community development work is empowering youth as leaders in creating inclusive communities. Through initiatives such as the Together End Racism in Toronto (TERT) Campaign, funded by the Government of Canada, BCS supports youth from racialized, Black, Indigenous, LGBTQ2S, and other marginalized communities to become agents of change. Through workshops, town halls, community campaigns, and leadership opportunities, youth develop the knowledge and skills needed to challenge systemic racism and promote equity.
 

The Education and Allyship Program (EAP) further strengthens anti-racism efforts by training youth ambassadors and volunteers through interactive workshops, speaker series, community dialogues, and educational resources. Youth participants have developed community resources, contributed blogs and videos, and facilitated learning sessions to increase awareness of racism, discrimination, allyship, and social justice.
 

Through the Peacemaker Initiative, BCS works to address Islamophobia and xenophobia by promoting dialogue, knowledge-sharing, and understanding among diverse communities. Together, these initiatives advance peacebuilding, strengthen community connections, and inspire collective action toward a more inclusive and equitable Canada. 

BCS fosters meaningful connections between youth and seniors through intergenerational programs that promote learning, leadership, and mutual respect. Through community dialogues, cultural celebrations, workshops, storytelling, volunteer initiatives, arts and recreational activities, and family engagement, participants build lasting relationships while sharing knowledge and experiences across generations.

 

These programs strengthen social inclusion, reduce isolation, and inspire collaborative community leadership, creating a more connected, compassionate, and resilient community for all.
